Nozzle Materials and Performance

The material of the nozzle's inner bore is crucial to performance. Choosing a nozzle coated with wear-resistant materials, such as tungsten carbide, maintains constant airflow, optimizing performance and reducing fuel consumption.

Advantages of Sandblasting Nozzles

  • Operational Efficiency:

High-quality nozzles improve process efficiency, reducing processing times and increasing productivity. Choosing the right nozzle can optimize abrasive consumption and improve cleaning results.

Versatility:

Available in various configurations and materials, they can be adapted to specific needs, offering customized solutions for every industrial sector.

Durability and Reliability:

Advanced materials such as tungsten carbide and boron carbide ensure long operating life, reducing replacement and maintenance costs, and ensuring consistent performance over time.

Nozzle Size and Air Consumption

Nozzle size is crucial. A nozzle that's too small can prolong the sandblasting process, while one that's too large could reduce the pressure of the jet, compromising the quality of the sandblasting. Nozzle diameters generally range between 5 and 12 millimeters. The smaller the diameter, the lower the air consumption per minute, although this also depends on the pressure setting on the compressor.

Nozzle Configurations

There are two main nozzle configurations:

  • Straight Hole Nozzles:

They have a cylindrical internal hole, offering a more direct jet.

  • Venturi nozzles:

They have a smaller internal hole than the external hole, increasing the diameter of the sandblasting jet and promoting greater expansion of the jet.

  • Metallurgical Industry:

Sandblasters, equipped with suitable nozzles, are essential for cleaning and preparing metal surfaces, removing rust, old paint, and other impurities. This prepares the metals for subsequent treatments such as painting or galvanizing.

    Naval Sector:

In ship maintenance, sandblasters equipped with specific nozzles effectively remove marine scale, rust, and old paint layers, preparing surfaces for new protective coatings.

    Building Restoration:

When restoring historic buildings, sandblasters with delicate nozzles, such as ceramic ones, clean sensitive surfaces without damaging them, removing dirt, paint, and air pollutants.

    Automotive:

Sandblasters are used to clean automotive components, preparing surfaces for painting, coating, and other finishing treatments, improving the adhesion and durability of coatings.
