
WHY CHOOSE WATERBLAST
WATERBLAST is a professional water sandblaster designed to perform free-jet processes, reducing dust formation through controlled pre-wetting of the abrasive.
Unlike systems in which water is the primary working medium, WATERBLAST maintains the principle of pressurized abrasive blasting: the abrasive is accelerated by compressed air and humidified in the final part of the circuit, just before reaching the surface.
In this way the particles tend to disperse less in the air, while maintaining the mechanical action necessary to remove paints, oxidations, coatings and residues from surfaces compatible with the abrasive treatment.
The water flow can be adjusted by the operator depending on the job, and the flow is automatically interrupted when the sandblaster stops. Water flow rate of approximately 2.5 l/min up to 80 meters away.

COMBINATION WITH OLYBLAST
In a FEVI application test dedicated to the paint stripping of large surfaces, the following configuration was used:

OLYBLAST 0.1–0.5 mmThis combination was used to maintain good removal capacity while significantly reducing dust dispersion.
WATERBLAST is particularly suitable when free-jet sandblasting is required on medium-large surfaces and dust dispersion is an operational problem.
I would choose it in particular when:
- it is necessary to remove paint, oxidation or old coatings;
- the surface area is too large to effectively use a recovery system;
- you want to maintain a marked abrasive action;
- completely dry sandblasting would generate a quantity of dust that would be difficult to manage;
- you want to limit the water supply compared to hydro-sandblasting systems;
- the processing is carried out in construction sites, yards, nautical or industrial maintenance.
WHEN TO PREFER A RECOVERY SANDBLASTER
PRESSURE BASE, MAX, BAG or INFINITY may be preferable when the surface allows the recovery gun to maintain correct contact and you want to directly recover abrasive and dust during processing.
WATERBLAST, on the other hand, remains a free-jet solution: the abrasive and the removed material must therefore be subsequently managed in the affected area.

WATER WHERE IT IS NEEDED, NOT AS THE MAIN MEANS
During normal dry sandblasting, abrasive and blasted material can generate significant amounts of airborne particles.
With WATERBLAST, water is introduced into the mix just before the outlet, increasing the humidity of the particles and reducing their tendency to remain suspended in the air.
The system therefore allows for an interesting compromise to be achieved between:
abrasive removal capacity
- reduction of dust raising
- controlled use of water .
In recent applications, pre-wetting resulted in a substantial reduction in dust, but did not make the process completely free of particles and residues.

Does WATERBLAST completely remove dust?
No. Pre-wetting the abrasive significantly reduces airborne dust, but it doesn't ensure the sandblasting process is completely free of particles or residue. Therefore, proper operator protection and careful management of the work area are still necessary.
What is the difference between WATERBLAST and hydrosandblasting?
WATERBLAST primarily uses compressed air and abrasive, adding a controlled amount of water at the end of the blast. In traditional hydroblasting, however, water typically plays a predominant role in the process.
How much water does WATERBLAST use?
The FEVI documentation indicates a flow rate of approximately 2.5 liters per minute, which can be maintained up to a maximum declared distance of 80 meters. The flow rate can be adjusted by the operator from the workstation.
Does water still come out when I stop sandblasting?
No. The system automatically shuts off the water flow when the sandblaster stops.
What abrasive can I use?
The choice depends on the surface, residue, and desired finish. FEVI tested WATERBLAST 120 with OLYBLAST 0.1–0.5 mm, a Ø8×150 mm Venturi nozzle, and a pressure of 8 bar for a specific paint stripping application on large surfaces.
Is WATERBLAST suitable for metal surfaces?
Yes, it can be used to remove rust, paint, and coatings from compatible metal surfaces. However, it's important to consider the presence of moisture after treatment and plan the drying and subsequent protective cycle carefully.
